Joel Wong Clown Singapore | Eyes of the Clown

There square measure few enough miracles in life, God knows. I think perhaps the circus is one of them. We pay our money, braced for boredom, and are bombarded by noise, bewitched by beauty, awed still one more time by elephants that, yes, are smaller every year. Yet something happens when we enter the big top. If we let it, we will be carried back to hopes and dreams long surrendered: hopes that something wonderful really can happen, dreams that will happen to us, maybe even now.

Clowns are the prime miracle-workers in all this. There is a vision in the eyes of clowns that sees the world new-washed in daybreak’s dream, the vision of a leaf returned to bud, of pretext gone and darkness only seems. Clowns are pegs on which the circus can be hung, the hooks on which the magic is begun, the eyes of God to find our soul and nudge the people we can be. Clowns tell us — if we listen — that something wonderful really can happen, right there, right here, right now.

It is easy to forget the clowns — spots and bangles, rubber nose, feet like ducks, outlandish clothes. It is perhaps more comfortable to miss the clowns, for they mirror ourselves, stripped of pretention, stripped of protection. There with all our naked feelings hanging out. There — that tear, that laugh, that sigh — don’t hide it, says the clown. Let it come. Let it happen. Let it be.

The clown takes the risk first, but leaves the rest of the magic up to us. We can be real, can let others know our pain, our need, our joy, our strength. If we let it, the magic really can happen, right there, right here, right now. And that’s the biggest miracle of all, God knows.

Joel Wong Clown Singapore – Simple Clown and Simple Fun

In today’s world of kids birthday parties, a lot of weight is put on the parents to go out of their way to make their party the most impressive party of the year… but who is this really for? Believe it or not, the hype of a huge party is usually something the parent has worked their child up to. If the parent has decided that a huge amazing birthday party is the way to go then this is what a child will expect, but be warned, a child’s expectation way be much more than what you had in mind. Their imaginations might very well out do yours. This can lead to a disappointment on the child’s part when the party is not as WOW as it should be.

Having said this, maybe it is a better idea to keep the party simple. I can assure you that your child will be happy with whatever you decide so long as your heart is into the project and you are not running around like a chicken without a head. Smaller, simple parties allow you to spend more time with your child and less time worrying about the donkey in the flowers.

As Zimbo the Clown I have had much experience in the dynamics of what makes a good party, after all, the kids tell me exactly what they think of a party. I make it a point to ask every child about their day and how much fun they are having. So here are some first hand tips to an awesome, simple, cost-effective party.

First of all make sure there is enough food and make sure you put some out before the party starts. Don’t put out all the food at once as it might get chowed before all the kids arrive.

Be sure to get a jumping castle to keep the kids busy as they arrive, if jumping castles are out of your budget then have some soccer balls or hoola-hoops for the kids to play with. Kids want to play the minute they walk in the door, so be prepared. If it is summer then the swimming pool works as a great pre-party activity, blow up a few floating animals and balls and the kids will do the rest.

About an hour into the party is the time for the kids party entertainer to take over. Whether it is a Clown with his wonderful balloons or a Magician with a bit of walk around magic, these are trained professionals who will no doubt keep the kids occupied. The most important tip for the parent is to stay involved with the entertainment. If you look excited then the children will pick up on this and they will have a wonderful time.

After the kids entertainer has met all the kids then allow them to put on the show. Have an area where the kids can sit on the floor and a small table for the entertainer to put his magic or tricks on. It is important that the parents help to control the kids during this time. If a child is trying to get their hands into the magic box then it is the parents duty to put the child in line not the entertainer. The entertainer may tell a joke about a shark being in the magic box, this is a hint to the parents that the child needs to be controlled.

After the Magic Show is a good time to do the birthday cake and sing. Have all the kids gather around the table or even better sit at the table. Have the knife ready… you will not believe how many times the candles are blown out and then mom has to run and get the knife. The clown or magician will be happy to help cut the cake while you click away with the camera.

If you have a Magician then your time is probably up after the cake cutting. If you have hired a Clown then you can go the extra hour and have them do some face painting. Again, have a table and two chairs available for this. Please note that clowns and entertainers do get thirsty so during the face painting might be a good time to hydrate them. Entertainers are not there to eat all the food but a little snack/drink will sure keep him/her fresh and at that point they will very well appreciate it.

Joel Wong Clown Halloween Masks

Throughout history clowns have been the image of fun, to see them clown around at a circus, getting up to all kinds of mischief most people find them at least a little amusing. It’s a long history too; they were in the pantomimes of Ancient Greece and probably existed well before then.

But take them out of the circus ring and it all changes…

They seem like they go through a disturbing transformation. Put them in additional uncommon, darker environments and bring them up closer and they lose their childish comical innocence.

“There is nothing funny a couple of clown within the moonlight” –

actor Lon Chaney, Sr.

Thank you Lon, that kind of sums it up – but you cannot help wondering why on earth would say that in the first place.

Anyway, back to Halloween and some fun…

A Halloween clown mask is an ideal addition. The alternative would possibly be, to slap on the make-up yourself, however the mask has a number of advantages:

They will not get smudged or run at the site of water. Though possibly this could add a chance and unique image all by itself most of the time it isn’t going to be pretty.

They are a cleaner alternative, not requiring heavy make-up removal at the end of the day. Saying that for some masks, it is up to you to decide whether a mask that is showing smatterings of blood and gore over the face could be defined as clean…

They are really quick to prepare, no other facial preparation is needed.

There may be one disadvantage…

You maybe will want a brightly coloured costume to go with it, though the mask itself is probably surreal enough to look fascinating in a pin stripe suit.

OK – Maybe another disadvantage…

There is a chance that someone else may wear the same mask as you!

The more unusual or rarer the mask you find, the less chance of this ever happening, of course. But if you do find yourself akin to two women at a party in the same dress, you might consider the following.

Leave the Party! What? No, it’s not that bad is it?

Clown Stand Off. Now is the chance to be the best and think of ways to look the scariest. You might find some cool killer clown like moves that make you stand out.

Join Forces. Clowns do like their own company, even if they are scary. Having two clowns acting similarly will certainly double the spookiness.

Confuse the Crowd. Maybe swap a few bits of the other person’s costume and pretend to be them. A good time to find out what people really think of you?

If you’re not an expert or have no idea, becoming a clown is really tedious. It requires skills and talents plus those acrobatics that will surely capture their moments. This is now where you need help. You need to imbibe that “Clown Persona” so you may have an idea what it takes to be a clown. If you have read my last article about clowning 101, you will have seen that I have mentioned tapping into your “inner clown”. It sounds ridiculous but when the chips are down and your back is against the wall, when you feel like you will lose it and duct tape a few kids to the ceiling then you will be happy that you did tap into the inner clown!

The point that I am raising here is simple. If you are planning to make a party and you want to be the clown for the party, you can do so. How? Well, paint yourself to look like a clown plus a costume. After that, you start becoming a clown.

Another point, you don’t have to spend much. Laughing is not about being so expensive. It is about being creative. You can always use something from your own closet or borrow some of your husband’s clothes. Either way, your closet is a gold-mind for dress up; you just have to unlock and let out your inner child.

And since it is a kid’s party, encourage the active participation of the kids around. Do not monopolize, as if you own the entire moments. Take note, it is not your moment. It is for the children and you are simply there to give them joy and fun. So, let your kids get involved and help you with the process of getting dressed up as a clown. They have very good input to add; they do indeed want to be heard, and a child’s perspective is always valuable.

Now, that you are ready, be yourself. When I say be yourself that means, let out your inner child. By doing so, you can think of things to do with the kids or for the kids that yourself wanted as a child. Maybe you liked it when people made balloon animals for you. You can do the same for the children at the party. Even if you are a novice and bust a few balloons, try to do it in a funny way and the child will laugh and have fun even if they don’t get the animal that you were trying to make for him or her in the first place. The only thing that counts is that you tried and that is what the child will remember.

You can also do a few magic tricks or tell a few jokes. Enjoy the time that you are spending with the children. Why? It is because you are creating a valuable memory for these children and as time passes by there will be one special child that will remember what you did that day at the party and it will be a wonderful memory. After all, it was the day that they saw their friend’s parent become a clown.

All these are memories worth keeping for and for you always take into consideration that you must let yourself laugh, too.

Joel Wong Prank Singapore – Draw a Clown?

Clowns, people love them or they hate them, probably going back to their childhood when the clowns laughed in their face. Either way, drawing them is a challenge to try and lose the common sinister appeal of these popular children’s entertainers, so here we will be going through drawing a clown step by step through an article’s words.

Clowns typically area unit vibrant, however heaps of their style tries to charm to an explicit people, therefore initially we want to assess whether or not our clown are going to be the typical short and fat clown or a tall and skinny clown. Either will be drawn to scale, once you’ve decided on the visualisation in your mind of how you want the clown to look, you ca start to draw a circle for the pinnacle with shoulders and start to sketch within the alternative areas just like the arms and legs; however not thoroughly, simply in rough draft.

Now once we have the basic figure mapped out in sketched out format, we can continue on with adding some form to this clown. By going back to the legs and making sure they look solid, like they would make the clown stand up and also we can work on the arms too to do the same thing, once these are done we can go back and start to draw in some detail to the clowns face, like some clown make up, with the usual line around the mouth and a few around the eyes; and yes give it s daft curly wig too to make it look authentic.

The last step is bringing all of the drawing together by dressing it up and making the clown wear baggy trousers and a very loose fitting jacket and make your clown smile.

Joel Wong Clown Singapore- About Coulrophobia

Most people are surprised to learn that a very large number of children and adults are scared of clowns, some to a degree that overpowers and incapacitates them. Instead of happy or smiling, children often let out a scream of terror or start crying when a clown appears close to them. Even several adults become frozen with concern once a clown approaches. This fear of clowns is called ‘coulrophobia’ which comes from the Greek ‘kolobathristes’ which means ‘the man on stilts’ and ‘phobos’ which means fear.
Why these folks are scared of clowns is a complicated issue but most psychologists agree that it probably starts when we are very young. When infants are just beginning to connect facial features of their parents with their comfort, the severely exaggerated features of a clown can cause a lot of confusion and fear. Some of these cases may cause deep impressions that can carry through to late adulthood.

The clown or jester of old was usually expected to be earthy, play pranks on people, causing them discomfort and embarrassment while exploring the darker side of human nature and seeking to mock all kinds of authority. He was the ‘bad boy’ personified and often made it his art to connect ‘funny’ with ‘physical pain’. For example if he caused someone to fall and cry out on being hurt, the clown would laugh and encourage others to do so too. If someone fell subsequently, even years later, the pain could remind him or her of the merriment that the clown showed and this could cause negative feelings towards clowns in general, likely an active resentment and fear.

EVen the make up and costumes that clowns wear have a negative effect on people. The most prominent feature that seems unsettling to many is the large, painted-on smile. Often, a clown could be seriously dead pan while doing something like juggling knives but his face was meant to convey a picture of happiness and joy. Up close, this could seem like an extremely disturbing sign of deception, specially if the clown happened to be frowning! Also, this picture of an eternally smiling face has an element of deceit built in because it is so unnatural.

Joel Wong – About Clown Phobia

Joel Wong - Scary Clown MAn

Are you terrified of clowns? Do you experience nausea, shortness of breath or rapid heartbeat when thinking of clowns? Do you feel an urge to run as fast as you can from a clown? Do you avoid places where you could meet a clown at all costs? Or maybe your child gets really anxious in circus or around clowns and you ask yourself why? If you answered yes to one or some of these questions you may be suffering from coulrophobia which is a phobia of clowns.

So, who can be affected by clown phobia? Do you think it`s unusual or common to be afraid of clowns?

Research shows that clowns can be scary for both children and adults. Clown phobia seems to be relatively common. A study conducted by the University of Sheffield shown that all 250 children (from four to sixteen years old) who voted on their preferences regarding redesign of British hospital expressed a fear or dislike of clowns.

What is the cause of clown phobia?

The fear of clowns usually originates in childhood and is connected with some odd experience. For instance a child that is used to his or her family and other people`s faces may get really anxious even terrified by an adult wearing a mask. In this case it may be very difficult if not impossible for the child to interpret the adults behaviour. Fear of clowns can be also reinforced by graphic novels, horror literature and horror movies, where clowns are depicted as heartless murderers. For example Stephen King’s movie It, which features a child-eating clown named Pennywise.

Is there a reason to be afraid?. Circus clowns versus clown serial killers.

Circus clowns are funny people with oversized shoes and constant smile on their faces, comedians you usually meet in circus. You can also see them during various events or children parties. They are harmless. They wear colourful clothes, make funny noises and cause laughter. They joke making fun of everything around. However, there is also another image of a clown, often depicted in movies, a scary, ominous figure with inscrutable, constant smile on his or her face. Clown – dangerous killer wearing a mask that hides his or hers true intentions or emotions. A person whose face doesn’t change and remains comical, no matter what happens.

Research shows that clown phobia is rooted most firmly in the subconscious fear of the unknown. Masks are often associated with deceit because they hide the truth and the identity of the person wearing them. The permanent and exaggerated expressions on clown face makes it very difficult to interpret or read the clown’s face.

Therefore, the adult or child is unable to predict or correctly determine the clowns actions. This kind of thing can make a person feel very uneasy around a clown or anyone else who wears a “permanent” expression.

Clown phobia is treated just like any other phobia and you or your child can easily learn to overcome it.
